Kebbi State governor, Abubakar Atiku Bagudu, has said Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) Limited will soon start a $100m ethanol production in Kebbi State.
The governor, who spoke at a town hall meeting on his 2023 budget, said the corporation and the state government had signed an MoU four years ago on ethanol production with Kebbi to provide the sugarcane and cassava needed as raw materials.
Bagudu while responding to questions said the cassava plantations at Guwazawa village in Danko Wasagu Local Government Area of the state would soon be cultivated by NNPC for the production of bio fuel.
The governor said the project would open up many economic opportunities for the state and boost availability of fuel for vehicles in the country just as it did in Brazil and other countries.
