A former governor of Oyo State, High Chief Rashidi Ladoja at the weekend said he was initially worried over last week’s judgement of the Federal High Court sitting in Lagos on alleged N4.7 billion fraud which he was later vindicated by the court.

He said he was worried that the judgement could be influenced by his political enemies to ensure he was punished for sins he didn’t commit.

Ladoja, who spoke on his victory while addressing newsmen at his Bodija country home, said he knew he stood for truth and the truth shall prevail at last.

Justice Mohammed Idris of a Federal High Court sitting in Lagos had on Friday discharged and acquitted the former governor of Oyo State on the alleged N4.7 billion fraud charge levelled against him by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).

“I know the trial will be tough and challenging, but I believe God is on my side. I would have chosen to join APC so that my sins can be forgiven as it was recently said by the National Chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole, but despite all the confrontations, I remain steadfast because I knew truth shall prevail,” he said.

He warned politicians not to play politics with bitterness but rather they should be concerned about good governance.

He added: “Politics must be constructive because once you won an election, all citizens belongs to you, and you must judge them equally.”

Earlier, Ladoja who had visited the palace of Olubadan of Ibadan land, Oba Akanmu Adetunji after his arrival from Lagos said he had reasons to appreciate the monarch for his support during his trial.

Olubadan described him as a man of impeccable character who would never allow himself to indulge in acts capable of dragging his good reputation in the mud.
