N12.5bn raised for Borno flood victims

The Borno State Government has announced that so far, N12.554.5 billion in cash donations have been made to offer succour for victims of the recent flood that devastated parts of the state.

The Senior Special Assistant to Governor Umara Zulum, Abdurrahman Ahmed Bundi, who announced the updated donations in a statement yesterday, however, noted that not all the funds announced have been credited to the Maiduguri Relief Fund opened by the Borno State Government.

He said, “Details of the redeemed pledges of donations and material support will be announced in due course.”

The donations came from corporate entities, state governments, state and National Assembly members, individuals and non-governmental organisations.

Apart from the cash donations, foodstuffs, clothing items and beddings worth millions of naira were also donated by individuals and organisations.

Some of the state donors are Bauchi State (N250m); Kebbi State (N200m); Adamawa State (N50m); Yobe State (N100m); Kano State (N100m); Gombe State (N100m); Taraba State (N100m); Katsina State (N100m); Kaduna State (N100m); Niger State (N250m; and Zamfara State (N100m)

Some individual donors are Alhaji Aliko Dangote (N2bn, N1bn donated to NEMA); Alhaji Aminu Dantata (N1.5bn); Alh Mohammed Indimi (N1bn); Alhaji Dahiru Mangal (N100m); former President Muhammadu Buhari (N20m); Atiku Abubakar (N100m); Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso/NNPP (N50m); Peter Obi (N50m); North East Development Commission (N3bn); Nigerian Senate (N54.5m); House of Representatives (N100m); People’s Democratic Party (PDP) (N25m); Borno House of Assembly (N60m); former Senate President Ahmed Lawan (N50m) and Hon Zainab Gimba (N25m).

Others are Ibrahim Abba Umar (N50m); Sumaila Satumari (N20m); Mallam Gana Kareto (N10m); Northern Senators Forum (N10m); Senator Barau Jibril (N10m); Moh’d Abubakar Maifata (N50m); Southern Borno (N200m); Zakariya Dikwa (N10m); Al-Amanah Aid (N1m); Mohammed Imam (N50m); Maina Ma’aji Lawan (N10m); Ali Modu Sheriff (100m); Dr Ali Bukar Dalori (N50m); Sen MT Monguno (N50m); Kaka Shehu Lawan (N50m) and Aliyu Betara (N100m).
