Nigeria’s music maestro, Bongos Ikwue, has joined the Musical Copyright Society of Nigeria (MCSN) as a member.
The registration was carried out in Abuja by the director-general/chief executive officer of the MCSN, Mayo Ayilaran and witnessed by the Society’s chairman and notable musician, Orits Williki.

Ikwue said he was glad to become a full-fledged member of the MCSN. “ I am a little above 80, so it is long overdue,” he said.
Ikwue, who is the creator of many popular albums, such as “Cock Crow at Dawn, Still Searching and What’s Gonna Be, Gonna Be,” among others, urged younger musicians to register their works.
The chairman of the MCSN, Williki regretted that for years, the works of Bongos Ikwue were used with impunity without considering compensation for him.
“We look forward to when the works would bring back dividends to him. I am happy that we are doing the right thing,” he said.
Ayilaran, the chief executive officer of the MCSN, also said the Society would ensure the multi-talented artiste got full payment, not only for past use of his works but for present and future exploitation of any of his work on multiple platforms
