150 VVF patients in Kano get free treatment, empowerment

At least 50 patients of Vesicovaginal Fistula (VVF) in Kano State have been selected to benefit from a free treatment at the Murtala Muhammad Specialist Hospital in the state, while 100 others are to be empowered.

 The intervention, which is part of the corporate social responsibility programme of the First Bank of Nigeria, is to 100 VVF patients who are at recovery stage, while the 50 will be fully sponsored to undergo surgery by the bank.

Speaking at the flag-off of the exercise, the executive director, public sector at First Bank, Abdullahi Ibrahim, said the effort was in collaboration with the state’s Ministry of Health.

On his part, Governor Abdullahi Umar Ganduje, who was represented by the Commissioner for Women Affairs and Social Development, Zahrau Muhammad Umar, commended the effort of the bank and congratulated the survivors of the intervention.
