A 51-year-old bricklayer, Olatunde Babatunde, was on Tuesday remanded in the Awajighor Custodial Centre for allegedly defiling a 10-year-old girl in Lagos.

The prosecutor, Inspector Ayodele Adeosun, told the court that the accused on June 21, 2023, at about 6pm in the Igbanla area of Ilogbo-Eremi, Badagry, Lagos, unlawfully had sexual intercourse with a 10-year-old girl.

He said, “The victim reported the incident to her parents who reported the case to the police, leading to the arrest of the defendant.”

The Magistrate, Mr T.A. Popoola, did not take the plea of the defendant, ordered that the case file be forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution for advice and adjourned the case to September 6.
