A magistrate’s court sitting at Ogba in Lagos State has ordered the remand of a 58-year-old man, Lekan Odejobi for beating his ex-wife, Esther.

The prosecutor, Inspector Raphael Donny, told the court that Esther went to her estranged husband who she had left for over 12 years to demand money for their children’s school fees and upkeep.

He said, “Before the fight, Lekan Odejobi and his wife, Esther, had a disagreement and she left his house with the children.

“But sometime this year she contacted him and demanded their children’s school fees and money for feeding. Rather than give the complainant the money as promised, he resorted to inflicting bodily injuries on her.”

The accused pleaded not guilty when the charge was read to him.

The Magistrate, O. G. Oghre, granted him bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety in like sum.
