A man, identified simply as Chuks, is battling for life at the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, after his female lover poured hot water on him following an argument about a love SMS on his phone.
A witness, Adekunle Joseph, told our reporter that the two lovers had been cohabiting for the past nine months in Dakwa in Tafa LGA of Niger State.

He said, “On Saturday evening, the girlfriend, Joy, and the man were watching a movie with his phone when a message popped in.
“She opened it and discovered that it was a love text. This made her angry and an argument ensued. Before then, she was boiling water for Semovita. She took the water and poured it on his body and fled.
“I and some neighbours rushed him to a private clinic here in Kubwa but he was referred to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital due to the burns he suffered.”
He, however, noted that the matter had not been reported to the police.
