An Ilorin magistrates’ court has ordered the remand of one Olasunkanmi Alade, 40, at Oke-Kura Correctional Centre for allegedly killing his father.
He was arraigned in court over a one count charge of culpable homicide contrary to Section 221 of the Penal Code Law.
Addressing the court, the police prosecutor, Olajide Sekonda, said they received intelligence on January 6, 2022 that a corpse with a deep cut on the left hand was seen on the road at Oke-Apa area in Omu-Aran.
He further told the court that the body was later identified as Dele Alade, the father of the defendant.
Sekonda said the police evacuated the body to the General Hospital, Omu-Aran before the arrest of the suspect.
He said investigation conducted led to the recovery of the deceased’s handset in the defendant’s pocket with his SIM card removed.
“On January 5, around 8pm, Olasunkanmi was involved in a physical fight with his father before his death which attracted the intervention of other relatives,” he added.
He prayed for the remand of the suspect pending the completion of investigations.
In his ruling, Magistrate Folake Olokoyo, adjourned the case till February 7, 2022 for further mention.
