A 39-year-old woman, Minotu Shodimu, on Wednesday, appeared before an Ebute Meta magistrates’ court in Lagos for damaging a ladder belonging to the Eko Electricity Distribution Company (EKEDC).
The defendant, a trader, who resides at No 58 Abule-Nla Road, off Apapa Road, Ebute Meta, was brought before the court on a two-count charge of damage and manner likely to cause breach of the peace.

The prosecutor, ASP Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on February 26 about 10am.
He said the defendant forcefully dragged down an EKEDC ladder valued at N120,000 and damaged it in the process when its officials went to her compound to disconnect power supply due to outstanding bills.
Iseghede further said the defendant and others at large conducted themselves in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by challenging the staff of the company and throwing stones at them.
The Magistrate, Mrs T.O. Abayomi, admitted the accused to bail in the sum of N50,000 with two sureties each in like sum and adjourned the case to June 13. (NAN)
