Soldiers rescue Lagos woman from suicide

Soldiers of the 81 Division of the Nigerian Army (NA) have rescued one Mrs Francesca Spark who plunged into the Lagos Lagoon around the 81 Division Officers’ Mess, Marina, Lagos.

In a statement on Monday, the division’s spokesperson, Lt Col Olabisi Ayeni, said Mrs Spark attempted to take her life but that troops of 65 Battalion deployed at the officers’ mess sighted her and quickly used their military ingenuity to rescue her.

The statement reads in part: “She was given first aid treatment and stabilised by the battalion’s medical team.

“After stabilisation, we contacted the family and she was handed over to her husband, one Mr Ovie Spark, residing in Awoyaya, Lagos.” (NAN)
