The Kogi State University (KSU) chapter of the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) yesterday issued a 21-day ultimatum to the state government to pay its members five months’ backlog of salaries or face industrial action.
ASUU Chairman of the university, Dr Daniel Aina, said at a news conference that the ultimatum became necessary as its members could no longer afford to feed, transport themselves to work and cater for family needs due to non-payment of their salaries.
“The union has given the state government 21 days to pay all the outstanding salaries and to ensure that henceforth, no salary is delayed more than seven days from the end of the preceding month as failure will result in No pay , No work”, he said.
