Vaccination centres around Kano municipal have halted the administration of the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine.

Daily Trust gathered that some centres had stopped vaccinating citizens since the first week of April.

The vaccination centre at Bayero University, Kano halted administration of the vaccine on the 9th of April while National Orthopedic Hospital, Dala halted vaccinations on the 10th.

Similarly, the centre at Aminu Kano Teaching hospital administered the final doses on Monday.

Speaking to officials at the Aminu Kano Teaching Hospital, Daily Trust gathered that the suspension of vaccination was a precautionary measure.

An official, who preferred not to be named, said, “Today is the final day to get vaccines in AKTH.

“We have to make sure that people who have been vaccinated, get the second dose of the vaccine.”

He said that those who have not been vaccinated will have to wait for another set of vaccines, saying that, “they should have vaccinated in time.”
