The Federal Ministry of Works and Housing (FMWH) says work on over 100km has been completed on section one to three of the 375.9km Abuja-Kano highway.
Director of Highways Construction and Rehabilitation in the ministry Funso Adebiyi said, “40 kilometres has been completed under section two which is Kaduna-Zaria, and 70 kilometres completed under section three, from Zaria-Kaduna.”

He noted that the ministry is working hard to beat the 2023 deadline for the reconstruction of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road.
Daily Trust reports that the Federal Executive Council (FEC) had approved the award of a N797.2 billion contract for the reconstruction of a hybrid two-lane-six-lane road network that covers 375.9km starting with the Abuja-Kaduna-Zaria to Kano road. The project, awarded to Julius Berger Nigeria PLC with 36 months tenure, is expected to be completed in 2023.
