Islamic centre graduates students, announces winners of Quranic competition

The students of Laila Dogonyaro Islamic Centre, Gwarimpa, Abuja, on Sunday had their khatma (complete recitation of 60 hizbs of the Holy Quran).

Speaking at the ceremony, the founder of the centre, Justice Binta Dogonyaro, while congratulating the graduating students, prayed that they utilised the Quranic knowledge meaningfully in their lives.

She said, “They should apply what they learned to themselves, family and society in general.”

While calling on kindhearted Nigerians to support humanitarian causes, Justice Binta said, “Currently, we have about 10 sponsored students who are mostly orphans and children from indigent families. No matter how little we have, let us help these children, because we are preparing our society for a better society if we have well-educated and well-mannered children.”

She thanked the parents and guardians of the children for being supportive and their zeal to ensure that their children acquired Islamic education and succeeded.

City & Crime reports that Usman Muhammad Abba (15), from Noorul-Tauheed School, who emerged winner of the 60 hizbs received N100,000, urged his fellow students to work and read hard.

Halima Muhammad, from Almustaqeem Islamic School, emerged first for the second category and was also awarded with a cash gift, while Fatima Abubakar from Noorul-Tauheed emerged winner of the third category and also got a cash prize.

City & Crime further reports that the Laila Dogonyaro Foundation has four branches: Islamic Centre, Counselling, Propagation of Islam & Islamic-based Lectures/Competitions.
