A cross-section of wounded servicemen on Wednesday said the lost soul of Nigeria can be restored if all Nigerians work together, regardless of political parties, with support for the security agencies in order to eliminate all forms of insecurity in the country.
The retired wounded soldiers under the aegis of Centre for Wounded Servicemen and Fallen Heroes Supports Fund (CFWS&FHSF) noted that Nigeria would emerge stronger soon; adding that resilient belief in the promise of tomorrow was embodied in thousands of years of Nigerians’ history.
The Chairman of Board of Trustees, Gen. Cecil Esekhaigbe (rtd), who spoke ahead of the January 15 Armed Forces Remembrance Day, explained that there was a need to salute the courage and resilient frontline security personnel and the service chiefs as well as other heads of security agencies on their efforts to restore normalcy.
He said, “Our prayers are with you and we will continue to do everything we can to support all the wounded servicemen and families of the fallen heroes and whatever it takes, we are going to be there as one nation and one Nigeria; we are not going to breakaway.

“We can do big things as a country when we work together, regardless of our political parties, to support the security agencies to eliminate all forms of insecurity. There is a lot more we can do, but we have to do it together to restore the soul of Nigerians.”
The retired general also sympathised with families of the frontline troops who had been affected by terrorists, banditry, kidnapping, rustlers, herders/farmers clashes, brigandage and other heinous crimes.
He said such developments had also affected gallant personnel in various forms, where the wounded servicemen reported missing in action, adding that the centre owed a huge debt to the frontline security operatives and their sacrifices would be forgotten.
