There was confusion yesterday as a former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly, Oludare Kadiri, stormed the assembly complex to “enforce” a court judgment which voided his suspension.
In March 2021, the Assembly impeached Kadiri as the deputy speaker over alleged gross misconduct.
Again, in September 2022, the assembly suspended Kadiri alongside another member, Solomon Osho (Remo North), indefinitely, for allegedly breaching the Assembly rights and privileges.
Osho later tendered an apology to the legislature and he was reinstated, but Kadiri dragged the Assembly before a State High Court sitting in Abeokuta, to challenge the suspension.

The court on Friday ruled in his favour and quashed his suspension as a member of the House.
Justice O. A. Onafowokan of the High Court 3, Abeokuta, while delivering judgment, held that the lawmaker’s suspension was “an abuse of power and abuse of office by the Speaker, Olakunle Oluomo, the House of Assembly and the Clerk of the House.”
Armed with the judgment, Kadiri stormed the assembly and demanded that the court judgment be implemented immediately.
It was gathered that Kadiri in company of about forty supporters threw the assembly complex into confusion for about thirty minutes before the intervention of the security agencies.
Speaking on the issue, the Deputy Clerk, Mrs Funmi Adeyemi, advised Kadiri to follow due process by serving the assembly the certified true copy of the said judgment.
