Tinubu, deputy speaker, others celebrate SGF, Akume, at 70

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has celebrated the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Senator George Akume, on his 70th birthday.

The president, in a statement on Tuesday by his spokesman, Ajuri Ngelale, commended the SGF for his consistency and perpetual dedication to duty in coordinating the affairs of the government.

“George Akume is one of the most reliable citizens this country can boast of. The people of Benue have subscribed to his sterling leadership principles and leveraged his remarkable talent for so many years because of what he has always stood for. He will be with you on the best of days, and even most reliably, on the worst of days. The country has been blessed with the dedication and sure-handedness of Senator Akume,” the president said.

While wishing the SGF good health and strength, President Tinubu implored Senator Akume not to relent in his diligent service to the country.

In a related development, the Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, Benjamin Okezie Kalu described the former governor of Benue State as a consummate politician, patriot and a democrat committed to the development of Benue State and Nigeria as a whole.

Governor Mohammed Umaru Bago of Niger State also described the SGF as a man with good legacies for citizens to learn from.

A former Governor of Benue State, Chief Samuel Ortom, also extolled the leadership qualities of  the SGF, saying that the celebrant had groomed and positioned countless people including technocrats, politicians and professionals in various fields.
