Avu community in Gupa- Abugi Ward of Lapai local government area of Niger State has been invaded by unknown gunmen with one death and six others kidnapped.
The gunmen, according to a source attacked the community in the early hours of Thursday and opened fire on a large number of people who were scampering for safety upon sighting them.
One person was later said to be killed in the process while six other were kidnapped by the gunmen.
A member of the community, Idris Musa Avu while narrating the incident said ” the gun men arrived the village around 1:00 am, in large number and upon seeing them, people were scampering for safety as they were shooting sporadically, one person was killed and six people were kidnapped”.
Musa added that the vigilantes upon seeing the situation tried their best but could not get police back up as at the time of the attack.
The Niger state police command public relations officer, (PPRO) ASP Wasiu Abiodun was unavailable for confirmation as of the time of filing this report as his phone was switched off.
