Police operatives have successfully repelled an attack on the Njaba Divisional Headquarters by suspected members of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
Imo State Commissioner of Police, Aboki Danjuma, confirmed the incident during a press briefing in Owerri. He reported that the attackers arrived in three SUVs and launched a violent assault on the headquarters, firing sporadically.
In response, the police operatives took defensive positions and engaged the attackers, resulting in the killing of three assailants. The remaining attackers, who sustained various gunshot wounds, fled into nearby bushes.
He added that during the operation, security forces recovered evidence, including one General Purpose Machine Gun, one AK-47 rifle, and three vehicles: a Toyota Lexus 470, a Mercedes GLK, and a Toyota Venza.

Danjuma further said an operation is currently underway to apprehend the fleeing suspects and bring them to justice.
