The newly sworn-in governor of Adamawa state on Thursday moved to reconcile with members of the state house of assembly known to be loyal to ousted acting governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri.
A Federal High Court sitting in Abuja on Wednesday sacked acting Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri and ordered the Chief Judge of the state to swear-in Mr. Ngilari as the state governor.
Mr Ngilari was deputy to former governor Murtala Nyako who was impeached in July by the state house of assembly. The court ruled that Ngilari hadn’t properly resigned at the time of Nyako’s impeachment was therefore the rightful person to become governor not Speaker of the state House of assembly Umaru Fintiri
At a meeting earlier today attended by all the legislators with the exception of Fintiri, governor Ngilari said he had forgiven any individual or group that might have contributed to his predicament, saying he would work closely with the legislators to fast track development in the state.
