The governing council of Gombe State University (GSU) has elevated eleven senior lecturers, known as associate professors to the rank of full professors.
This announcement was made by the university’s Registrar, Dr. Abubakar Aliyu Bafeto, in a press release issued recently.
Dr. Bafeto disclosed that the governing council also sanctioned the promotion of five other deserving lecturers to the position of associate professors, following favourable external assessment reports.
He stated, “The University Governing Council at its 52nd Regular Meeting held on Thursday, May 23rd, 2024, based on favourable external assessment reports, approved the promotions of eleven (11) readers to the rank of professors and five (5) senior lecturers to the rank of readers in various areas of specialisation.”

The newly appointed professors are Sani Ahmed Yauta, Mary Erasmus Sule, Abubakar Joshua Difa, Ibrahim Lai, Ambe Alfred Neba, Ediba Isaac Ogbodo, Mathew Funsho Bello, Dahiru Inuwa Ibrahim, Safiyanu Ishiaku, Mu’azu Usman Shehu, and Shamsuddeen U. Ilyas.
The other lecturers promoted to the rank of associate professors are Abubakar M. Saidu, Idoma Kim, Mustapha A. Danimoh, Dauda Kala, and Gideon O. Owoicho.
