The certificate is an affirmation that the chickens being sold nationwide are slaughtered in line with Islamic stipulation.
The presentation of the certificate was sequel to the invitation of the Shari’a Court of Appeal by the Emir of Shonga, Dr. Haliru Yahaya, to ascertain the legality, or otherwise, of the chicken slaughtered by the Fresh Country Chicken Enterprises.
Justice Adam Idris, who presented the certificate on behalf of the Grand Khadi, Justice Salihu Mohammed, said the Shari’a Court had inspected the farm and discovered that the conditions necessary for slaughtering had been fulfilled by the farm.
He said: “All the three slaughterers we met there are adults, who have attained the age of puberty and the three of them are Muslims which is one of the most important conditions for slaughtering animals.
“And, above all, they were well trained and well conversant with the rules and regulations of slaughtering. Each one of them possesses a sharp knife and mentions Allah’s name when slaughtering each fowl (chicken).”
