The Mandate Secretary for the FCT Women Affairs Secretariat, Adedayo Benjamins-Laniyi, has called on Nigerians to join the Orange the World Against Sexual and Gender Based Violence (SGBV).
Benjamins-Laniyi said the Orange the World 16 Days Activism is not an activity for a number of days, but a movement that should be embraced by everyone.
The secretary had earlier joined the Minister of Women Affairs and Social Development, Barrister Uju Kennedy-Ohaneye; Senator Ireti Kingibe, the senator representing the FCT; in a rally from the Eagles Square to the Unity Fountain where the 16 Days of Activism was declared opened.
The mandate secretary urged everyone to join efforts targeted at ending sexual and gender-based violence.
Lending her voice at the event, The President of Women in Politics Forum (WIPF), Barrister Ebere Efendu, said women all over Nigeria should unite not only against sexual and domestic violence but against low representation in government.
