Kaduna state governor, Malam Nasir El-Rufai and his Borno and Jigawa state counterparts, Alhaji Kashim Shettima, Alhaji Abubakar Badaru and the Group Managing Director (GMD) Dr. Mohammed Baru were among the 14 awardees that bagged the Kaduna State Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (KADCCIMA) award of excellence at the weekend in Kaduna.
Other awardees include, the Emir of Zazzau, Alhaji Dr. Shehu Idris, his Kano counterpart Alhaji Muhammadu Sanusi 11, Alhaji Dr. Lema Jibril, Alhaji A. Mohammed and Comrade Ahmed A. Abdullahi (rtd).
The rest are the Managing Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority Hajia Hadiza Bala Usman, Dr Suleyman N. Barrister Gloria Ballasan, Major General Y. Nom rtd and Alhaji Mohammed Hayyatudeen.
While Governor El-Rufai bagged the award in recognition of his uncommon transformation in Kaduna State, his Borno counterpart bagged his in recognition of inspiring and stabilizing leadership role, just as Governor Badaru was recognized for his empowerment programs.
Emir of Kano was recognized for his leadership role while that of Zazzau was for his role the promotion of peaceful coexistence, just as Major Nom got awarded in recognition of his contributions in promoting Agricultural value chain bin Nigeria.
The NNPC GMD was recognised for his contributions to the oil and gas industry while Barrister Ballason was recognized for given voice to the voiceless, just as the MD NPA was recognised for repositioning the NPA, while Alhaji Mohammed was awarded in recognition of his pioneer efforts in Commerce and Industry.
Dr.Jibril was awarded in recognition of his contributions to industrial development, Dr Suleyman for his contributions to the growth and development of capital market and Alhaji Hayatudeen was in recognition of his contributions in development finance while Comrade Abdullahi was in recognition of his contributions to the development of commerce and hospitality industry.
Speaking on the award, the President KADCCIMA, Hajiya (Dr) Muheeba Farida Dankaka said, the award was in recognition of the need to celebrate excellence in all fields of human endeavors.
“In this regards and after wife consultation, then chamber introduced this award of excellence about two years ago so as to identify, recognize, appreciate, encourage and celebrate commitment to excellence, patriotism in policy and investment decisions, active participation in socioeconomic development and genuine support to community efforts.”
“The award is meant to recognize and reward worthy individuals and organizations who have significantly contributed to the growth and socioeconomic development of the north in particular and nation in general” she stated.
