Edo regulates motorcycle, tricycle operations

Edo State government has rolled out modalities for the issuance of rider’s permits to private and commercial operators to regulate tricycle and motorcycle operations across the state.

The governor, in a statement signed by the Secretary to the State Government, Osarodion Ogie, said the initiative was part of the state government`s efforts to improve security, as there have been reported cases of the use of tricycles and motorcycles in criminal activities including armed robbery and kidnapping in the state.

“The state government is sensitive to the plight of genuine operators in the event of a total ban and has therefore taken this measure to properly organise and regulate all those in the genuine business of transportation both private and commercial,” he added.
