The Executive Director, Rule of Law and Accountability Advocacy Center (RULAAC), Okechukwu Nwanguma, has said the diversion of police trust funds is threatening national security and that those responsible should be treated as enemies.
He stated this during the inauguration of civil society organisations observatory on the Police Act 2020 and the Police Trust Fund 2019 on Thursday in Yola.

Nwanguma explained that there was a need to involve CSOs and media in capacity building on monitoring.
“The Police Act that we have today was signed into law in 2020 by the president. That was after 70 years of operating a colonial police act, which was no longer fit for the purpose of a democracy. The police must be governed by the law in conformity with the democratic dispensation,” he said.
A participant, Aminu Sanusi, said if the act was implemented, the police would be better equipped for operations without being violent to commuters.
