Difa United emerged winners of the inaugural edition of the grassroots football tournament sponsored by the member representing Yamaltu Deba Federal Constituency, Hon. Inuwa Garba, for the youths in his constituency.
In the highly entertaining finals decided at Lebo town in Yamaltu Deba Local Government, Diffa United piped Yamaltu United with a second half goal to take home the coveted trophy.
Speaking at the end of the tournament, the lawmaker said the competition was organised to enhance unity among his people.
While reiterating his commitment to the grassroots tournament, Garba also promised to pay the registration fee of the victorious side to enable it participate in this year’s Nigeria NationWide League 2.

In the same stride, he promised to pay the registration fees of six additional clubs who will be representing Gombe State in the national league.
Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Gombe State Football Association, Mr. Philibus Yakubu who was in attendance expressed his appreciation to the organisers for hosting a hitch-free competition.
The FA Chairman commended the participating teams for their outstanding performances and display of spirit of sportsmanship throughout the duration of the competition.
At the end of the well attended event, players and officials who distinguished themselves took home various awards like the Most Valuable Player (MVP), the Best Goalkeeper, Highest Goal Scorer, Most Disciplined Team, Best Coach, among others.
