A chief magistrates’ court in Ado-Ekiti has ordered the remand of three persons, Owoyemi Oluwole, 38, Ekundayo Dada, 32, and Ojonugwa John, 33, in the correctional centre in Ado-Ekiti over alleged membership of a secret cult.

The police prosecutor, Inspector Caleb Leramo, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on April 6 at about 12pm in Ikere-Ekiti.  He said they were found to be members of Aye Confraternity.

The prosecutor urged the court to remand the defendants in a correctional centre, pending legal advice from the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

The chief magistrate, Mr Saka Afunso, ordered the remand of the defendants in the correctional centre, pending legal advice from the DPP in the state.

He adjourned the case till May 22, for mention.
