Prices of tomato, onion, pepper and green beans have come down in Jalingo, despite rush for Christmas purchases.
North East Trust correspondent reports that despite high demand for vegetables generally as Christmas approaches, prices have remained low.

Haruna Yakubu, a vegetable dealer at Kasuwan Lau vegetable market, said they received a supply of vegetables from Gombe, Kano, Katsina and Zaria and no price increase was recorded.
He said although they were making brisk business, the dealers have not hiked the prices.
A housewife, Madam Florence Nuhu, told North East Trust that prices of vegetables were low compared to last year during this festive period.
She said she spent N10,000 on tomatoes, pepper, onion and other ingredients during last year’s Christmas but has so far spent N4,500 this year for the same quantity.
She, however, decried high cost of chickens and meat compared to last year.
“Chickens cost between N5,000 and N7000 now but last year, a big chicken was sold at N4000,” she said.
However, findings by our correspondent showed that the price of cows has increased by about 50 per cent.
A cow that was sold at N400,000 last year now attracts between N600,000 and N700,000 in Jalingo.
A cow dealer, Alhaji Dauda Maishanu, said buyers from south of the country came in numbers to purchase cows this year which forced the price to go up.
