Cattle-laden truck torched over killing of boy in Oyo

A mob in Saki, a border area in Oyo State, on Monday, set on fire a truck conveying cattle

A mob in Saki, a border area in Oyo State, on Monday, set on fire a truck conveying cattle over killing a young boy identified as Ayuba Raji.

A witness, Kazeem Adebiyi, told Daily Trust in Ibadan, that the incident happened at Challenge Junction, scene of ongoing  road dualisation.

Adebiyi said due to the ongoing road construction, motorists usually drive against traffic leading to increased crashes in recent times.

He said over speeding and carefree driving attitude of the truck driver caused the accident.

Another resident of Saki, Mr. Adekunle M. Lawal alias Saki First, blamed the contractors handling the dual lane for many of the crashes.

Lawal who spoke with Daily Trust on phone commiserated with the family of the deceased.

He said: “Yesterday an accident occurred at Challenge Junction which claimed the life of a young boy, Ayuba Raji, a younger brother to a popular Yoruba presenter and musician, Monsurat Raji.

“The boy was riding a Boxer motorcycle and was hit by a truck transporting cows out of Saki and mob set the truck ablaze before the police could arrive the scene.

“We commiserate with the family of the deceased, but the contractors need to do something urgently too.”
