A Catholic priest, Rev. Fr Andrew Obinyan, has declared his intention to contest the forthcoming 2024 governorship election in Edo State.

Obinyan, who is the priest of St Francis Catholic Church, Benin, said he joined the race after many calls and pressure from well-meaning Edo people and Nigerians to contest the election.

He made his intention known yesterday when he paid a visit to the secretariat of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Edo State council, Benin.

“Being a trained priest, I am well equipped to serve the good people of Edo and not be served,” he said.
