Buhari, family members observe Eid-el-Fitr prayers at Aso Rock

The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, was also seen with her daughters during the two raka'at (units) prayers.

President Muhammadu Buhari observed Eid-el-Fitr prayers at the forecourt of the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Thursday.

The prayers were observed at 9:00am, and COVID protocols were complied with.

In attendance were the president’s family members, Senate President Ahmad Lawan, Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila, the National Security Adviser (NSA), retired Major-General Babagana Monguno, Chief of Staff to the president, Professor Ibrahim Gambari, and other presidential aides.

The First Lady, Aisha Buhari, was also seen with her daughters during the two raka’at (units) prayers.

President Buhari had on May 9 again announced a ban on traditional Sallah homage Aso Rock by religious, community and political leaders.

The President, in a statement issued by his spokesman, Garba Shehu, encouraged such leaders to be content with modest celebrations at home in view of the COVID-19 pandemic as was the case last year.
