Bandits have beheaded a local hunter identified as Garba Sarki at Dogon-Daji village in Kagarko Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

A community leader in the area who confirmed the incident to our reporter through telephone on Monday on condition of anonymity for security reasons said the incident happened last Thursday around 11:47pm at a forest in the area.

He said the bandits ambushed the hunter at a forest in the area and opened fire on him but the bullets could not penetrate him, so they tied him and slit his throat with a knife.

He said the bandits had been trailing the hunter for some months after he engaged them in gun duel in a forest in early March this year, which led to the killing of two them.

The community leader said the decomposing headless body of the hunter w’as discovered on Saturday, adding that some vigilantes mobilised to the forest and buried his remains.

A member of the vigilante group from Kagarko, simply identified as Haruna, also said, “The man had been given the bandits tough time. In fact, few months ago, the hunter engaged them in a gun duel and even killed two of them,” he said.

The spokesman of the Kaduna State police command, ASP Hassan Mansur, did not respond to enquiries sent to him on the incident, up till the time of filing this report.
