Five passengers have reportedly been killed in an auto crash in Abatete, Idemili North LGA of Anambra State.
Witnesses said the crash, involving a commercial Sienna with registration number: NZM-814ZL, occurred Saturday night.
A witness said, “The driver was on top speed when he lost control, crashed into a dish and somersaulted severally.”
The Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Adeoye Irelewuyi, who confirmed the incident, said five adults died in the crash while the only survivor sustained injuries.

He attributed the crash to speed, saying the vehicle somersaulted three times after the driver negotiated a bend while on speed.
He said, “One unidentified driver was involved in a fatal road traffic crash at Onitsha-Ogidi-Abatete Old Road, Eke-Agu Market area, on August 12, 2023, at about 1625hrs.
“Six people comprising four male adults and two female adults were involved in the crash. Injured victim was one male. Three male adults and two female adults were killed.
“Further information from the Station Officer at Ogidi Police Station revealed that the crash actually happened on Saturday and that six persons were involved, of whom the driver was the only survivor.
