APC leaders receive Ex- PDP Chairman, declare Lagos one-party state

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos State, Hon. Mashood Salvador who recently dumped the party for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) has promised that he would work assiduously to ensure the APC presidential candidate secures 5m votes in Lagos state in the 2019 general election.

Salvador also assured that the party is guaranteed of securing up to 3m votes in the governorship election as well as over 90 per cent in other elections.

The ex-PDP chairman spoke at the weekend during a rally to formally receive him and thousands of his supporters into the APC held at Agege stadium.

They were received by leaders of the party led by the chairman, Tunde Balogun.

It would be recalled that Salvador on August 27 announced his defection from PDP shortly after he was released from prison over the killing of the Apapa LG party Chairman, Adeniyi Aborishade.

Salvador who insisted he was innocent in the murder said his defection to APC signalled the end of PDP in Lagos state, saying he has moved the structure which has sustained the opposition party in the state to the ruling party.

He named PDP leaders that defected with him to include Chairman of Mushin LG party chairman, Folorunsho Sulaiman, his counterpart in Shomolu, Olukoya Olumuyiwa; as well as a senatorial aspirant, Prince Gbenga Osinowo, a former National officer of PDP, Mrs. Margaret Igwe; House of Representatives aspirant in Oshodi-Isolo, Barr. Okey Joe, son of Chief Tunji Braithwaith, Olumide Braithwaith; a member of Elders’ Committee of PDP, Elder Idowu Adesanya, among others.
