Bandits have abducted the Zamfara State Coordinator of the Revenue Mobilisation Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC), Alhaji Bashir Abara Gummi and several others along the Funtua-Gusau Road.
Daily Trust gathered that the bandits were said to have blocked the busy Funtua-Gusau Road on Sunday, and attacked several vehicles including the car in which the coordinator was travelling.
Alhaji Gummi, according to sources within the commission, was on his way to Abuja for an official assignment when the incident happened.
A security source with knowledge of the incident said the bandits opened fire at some moving vehicles, thereby killing two persons on the spot before they kidnapped the coordinator and scores of other travellers.

“The bandits blocked the road and unfortunately, some vehicles fell victim to the kidnappers. They opened fire at the vehicles and abducted several travellers,” he said.
It was gathered that the Zamfara State’s Auditor General, Alhaji Abubakar Dan Maliki, narrowly escaped the bandits, as he was able to manoeuvre his way out of the scene where the kidnapping took place.
Daily Trust gathered that the Auditor General, who arrived at the scene shortly after the first set of vehicles were forcefully stopped by the bandits, quickly made a U-turn when he saw what happened with other drivers.
