Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq will hand over to a youth come 2027, majority leader of the Kwara State House of Assembly, Hon Abdulkadir Oba Magaji, has said.
He disclosed this during a youth engagement and award presentation programme organised by Ilorin West APC Ward Youths Leaders in Ilọrin.
Daily Trust reports that the house leader’s remark will heighten speculations over the 2027 gubernatorial race in the state.
According to Magaji, the action and appointment of the governor thus far has shown a different trajectory in Kwara politics.
“Some commissioners and appointees at the time of their engagement then and now have not even married.
“And with the way things are going, it shows the governor will hand over to a youth come 2027 and I know we have capable hands here and elsewhere that will not disappoint wherever they find themselves in Kwara government”, he added.
Speaking, Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq who was represented by the state Commissioner for Agriculture and Rural Development, Mrs Toyosi Thomas, said Ilọrin West is the number one council in the state and must demonstrate that with votes during the forthcoming council poll.
Coordinator of the group, Comrade Mashood Salman, said the governor’s dedication to good governance has made a positive impact on the state and across various sectors.
Salman said the Governor’s dedication to advancing infrastructural development, education, healthcare services and economic growth has propelled the state towards a brighter future.
Other dignitaries at the programme included General Manager, Kwara State Social Investment Programme, Dr Abdulwasiu Olayinka Tejidini; former commissioner for agriculture and rural development, Alhaji Abdullateef Gidado Alakawa, Special Assistant on Transport to Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, Hon Ibrahim Orire; Development Officer for Ilorin West Local Government, Hon Fatai Abdullahi among others.
Highlight of the event was the award presentation on eminent personalities including Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq and other party leaders in appreciation of their contributions to the development of the party.
