Imam Salihu Nasiru is a 36-year-old rice farmer in Tamburawa village of Kumbotso Local Government Area in Kano State, who has been into rice farming for over 15 years.
Nasiru said he initially produced only 10 bags of paddy every year, but that in the last four years his production had increased.

He further said despite the fact that he had never accessed any form of government’s agricultural intervention he was sure that government policies assisted drastically in the positive development he had recorded so far.
Nasiru explained, “I have filled and submitted several forms on the issue of accessing agricultural intervention, unfortunately, I have not accessed any. However, the border closure and other government policies are some of the things that have influenced the success I have recorded as a rice farmer.”
He revealed that, “With rice, I was able to marry and I am training my seven children in both western and Islamic education. I have also made arrangements to expand my business to a mega provision store in my community, as well as engage the services of three more people to make the number of people working in the provision store five.”
