Insecurity: Kwara assembly wants review of ‘Operation Harmony’

Kwara State House of Assembly has called on Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq to review the activities of the state security outfit, Operation Harmony, in order to reposition it to function optimally.

The call was part of the resolutions of the House of Assembly on a motion on the need to build a formidable security architecture for the state moved by Hon Babatunde Abdulkareem Paku, Malete/Ipaye/Oloru constituency.

The House also urged the governor to direct the Secretary to the State Government to collaborate with the state Commissioner of Police to ascertain the status of Ilorin Closed-Circuit Television (CCTV) centre for repositioning for optimum performance.

According to the speaker, the House also urged the state governor to direct the relevant agency to carry out a proper census of security outfits in the state to guard against security breach.

The House further urged the state government to embark on consistent enlightenment of the citizenry on radio on security tips and reporting suspicious individuals and activities to the appropriate agencies.

It further urged the government to liaise with the Nigeria Police to intensify community policing to involve more stakeholders such as landlords in order to broaden the base of participation and intelligence gathering.
