Kidnap victims regain freedom

The two kidnapped victims, in Abaji town, Murtala Maji Nasara and Yusuf Ibrahim have been freed after the payment of N1.6 million.

City News reports that the two victims were abducted separately from  their residences last Thursday.

A relative of one of the victims, who preferred anonymity, said his brother was released on Tuesday evening at a forest in Nuku, near Abaji town.

He said family members were able to raise N1.3 million after several negotiations with the kidnappers. They had earlier demanded N7 million as ransom.

“But after series of negotiations and pleading, they later accepted N1.3 million,” he said.

He said the victim was recuperating at a hospital due to beating he suffered from his abductors.

According to sources, the relatives of the second victim paid N350,000 ransom.

“Government should do something about kidnapping because the kidnappers have now taken it as a business,”  a source within the families pleaded.

The spokesman of the FCT Police Command, DSP Anjuguri Manza, could not be reached for comment as his phone was not connecting as at the time of filing this report.
