Yobe Desert Stars defender and captain, Moses Tsehuan has described his side’s 2-0 victory over visiting FC IfeanyiUbah as the turning point for his relegation threatened club.
Out of 16 matches played in the ongoing NPFL, Yobe Stars have only managed four victories, two draws and 10 losses to place last on Group B table.
Although they are left with slim chances of surviving the drop to the lower division, Tsehuan is still confident that Yobe Stars may not go down after all.
The victory which is the first for the club since Taye Yusuf was appointed to replace former technical adviser Ngozi Elechi has done little or nothing to brighten the chances of the dimmed stars.
However, the captain said “We are in deep trouble at the moment so the victory we recorded over FC IfeanyiUbah is timely. It has come at the right time to boost our morale.
“It is hard to explain why we have not been winning because the results hardly reflect our performance. Sometimes football can be so cruel,” he lamented.
Tsehuan however said with the continued support of the management of Yobe Stars, the players will keep pushing hard to keep the team in the topflight.
He said Yobe Stars will prosecute the remaining six matches with due diligence in order to salvage the situation that he described as dicey.
“Yobe Stars are not going to give up. We are still optimistic that before the end of the season, there will be complete turnaround in our fortunes.
“It is not going to be easy because other clubs too will be battling to save their position in the NPFL but we would show more hunger and commitment,” he assured.
