Rector, others suspended over alleged financial misconduct

The rector of Oke Ogun polytechnic, Oyo State, Mr. Mathew Oladeji and some principal officers of the institution have been suspended.

The affected officers, according to the governing council’s letter which was sent to Governor Abiola Ajimobi through the Commissioner for Education, Prof Adeniyi Olowofela, had been queried in respect of “series of allegations of fraudulent practices and gross misconduct”.

The suspension order was contained in a memo signed by Prof. Moshood Tijani, the chairman, Governing Council of the institution.

The governing council was said to have constituted a five-man investigation panel at one of its meetings to give the concerned officers fair hearing.

The committee’s report read thus: “in line with the disciplinary procedure of the Institution as highlighted in the Institution’s Edict; Part 8, Sub-section 28 (3 &4), Mr M. Oladeji led substantive management (i.e. the Principal Officers) have been placed on suspension pending the final determination of the investigation”.

Reacting, Oladeji, told our correspondent that “I have not received such a letter. I’m on leave”.
