The immediate past chairman of Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Lagos state, Hon. Moshood Salvador has been appointed as the Director-General of the Presidential Support Committee (PSC) for Buhari/Osinbanjo 2019 campaign in Lagos.
The appointment of Salvador who is now a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC) was conveyed in a letter from the Presidency signed by Rt. Hon. Gideon Sammani, Senior Special Assistant to the President (Political).
This was disclosed on Wednesday when Salvador received the APC governorship flag bearer in the state, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu at the PSC office in the state.
Other notable political leaders of the APC in the committee are Hon. Délé Aláké, Hon. Wálé Edun and Hon. Lawal Pedro (SAN).
The PSC is expected to coordinate and accredit all other Buhari/Osinbajo support groups in the state.
Speaking with newsmen, Salvador said the challenge before him is to ensure the victory of APC governorship candidate and the re-election of President Muhammadu Buhari.
“It (the appointment) has to do with experience and what we have in stock to deliver and the challenge before me is to make sure Sanwo-Olu wins in Lagos state with landslide victory and President Buhari is returned. That is the assignment given to me and I can assure you it would be delivered,” he said.
According to him, the capacity of APC to win any election in Lagos is not being fully utilized.
Salvador said, “According to my research and analysis I made, APC has not even done to the maximum. Their capacity is more than what they are achieving. So I want to put all my expertise and experience and all what I know to make sure they perform to the maximum level at this coming election.
“They are capable of having 2 million votes for their governors; when they were having 794,000 votes was underutilization of what they have. So it is part of my assignment to make sure I strategize, I plan, I give them the good part of getting to that level of scoring up to 2 million votes in the governorship election”.
Chieftains of the party including Cardinal James Odunmbaku, Prince Rabiu Adio Oluwa, among others stressed the need for reconciliation of aggrieved members ahead of the 2019 poll to make APC achieve a resounding success.
He enjoined aggrieved members to banish the thought that the opposition Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) would win to spite their own party, just because of the perceived injustice done to them, admonishing that “indigenes would not want their town destroyed.”
“We can be aggrieved but we should resolve to work together,” he said.
