Former Military President Ibrahim Badamasi Babangida yesterday urged government at all levels to take precautionary measures against killings, banditry and terrorism as well as natural disasters.

In a condolence message to the victims of flood disasters and other crises through his media office Tuesday in Minna, Babangida said Nigeria was going through trouble moments, urging community leaders to cooperate with governments for possible solutions to the recurring problems.

The former leader also expressed worries over the reported cases of attacks on law enforcement agencies, describing the trend as quite disturbing.

“I am disturbed with the rate of casualty being reported from natural disasters and acts of banditry with require our prayers and commitment of governments to address them.

“I wish to therefore express my condolence to the government and people of Katsina, Ogun and other states on recent flood disasters that killed citizens and render many families homeless,” he noted.

He also condoled with the governments and people of Sokoto, Zamfara and Kaduna States over activities of armed bandits which led to the killings of innocent citizens in Tabani Village in Raba, Danbakko village in Talatan-Mafara and Tabanni village in Birnin-Gwari and other places.

“Natural disasters are recurring phenomenon that no one has the ability to control but can be mitigated.

“We should nevertheless devise precautionary measures to curtail and mitigate the crises including devilish acts of armed bandits,” he said.
