Yobe approves N1.2bn for agric, health, power projects

The Yobe State Executive Council has approved N1, 198, 975, 318 to execute agricultural, healthcare, and rural electrification projects, the Commissioner of Information, Home Affairs and Culture, Alhaji Mala Musti told journalists in Damaturu yesterday.

He said a meeting of the state executive council led by Governor Ibrahim Gaidam slated N464, 722, 725 to construct concrete lining on canals at the Mugura Garin Gada Irrigation Scheme site, one of three irrigation schemes to increase food production.

He said the executive council also approved N106, 762, 500 for the transportation of medical equipment and supplies that a United States charity, World Medical Relief (WMR) donated to the state.

Mala Musti also said that N186, 705, 800 was approved to construct a 33KV transmission line to link Bayamari Town with Gaidam.

Other approvals by the government included N298, 561, 725 to provide furniture and equipment at the College of Medical Sciences and N60, 688, 583 for the landscaping and beautification of the frontage of Yobe Mosque and Islamic Center, Damaturu.
