The Director-General, Nigerian Institute of Advanced Legal Studies (NIALS), Professor Adedeji Adekunle, alongside United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has called for the initiation and follow-up interventions in rehabilitation and peacemaking in the North-East due to Boko Haram insurgency.
The director-general made the remarks yesterday in Abuja at the opening of a workshop titled “Support to Access to Justice in the North East of Nigeria.”
He said that in addressing the issues efforts should be made in the area of deradicalisation and rehabilitation and compensation as well as training of personnel to undertake these exercises.
The representative of the UNDP, Onyinye Ndubuisi observed that long delays in court and lack of commitment by relevant agencies were issues that led to violence in the North-East.
