The Plateau State Police Command yesterday said it has deployed more officers to Gada Biyu and Rukuba road in Jos North LGA of the state which has become ‘dens of cultism activities’.
The command’s spokesman, ASP Tyopev Terna, was reacting to the recent clash between two rival cult groups identified as the Black Axe and Red Axe.
A member of Kabong community in Gada Biyu had told Daily Trust that the clash claimed 12 lives but Terna yesterday said he could only confirm that two people were killed in the clash.
He told our correspondent that, “on Tuesday they were burying one of the suspects, when other members of the cult said they would not agree, that they wanted to know who killed their brother but the presence of the police overwhelmed them. We have now deployed more security agents to the area and we are consistently raiding the area.”
He added that the menace of sara-suka had depleted since a number of them were charged to court, adding that, “there was a time we took about 30 of them to court and all of them were remanded so sara-suka has reduced now.”
