Kubwa police patrol team has arrested one Jerome Eza for attempting to steal a Honda Sports Utility Vehicle at a bank at phase 4, Kubwa.
A police source told our reporter that Eza was seen around the bank last Friday monitoring customers of the bank.
City News gathered that the moment Eza identified the car he wanted to steal, he started struggling to open the vehicle with five different bunches of keys until Kubwa police patrol team, who were in mufti saw him and apprehended him. “Initially he claimed that the car belonged to him but as he was talking, the owner of the car came out from the bank.
“Eza then confessed to have been using the bunch of keys to steal cars in the past and that the SUV attracted him because he would have easily sold it.
He also confessed to have stolen a Honda Civic car from another bank and that the car was in Makurdi, at a car dealer’s stand,” the source said.
When contacted, the Kubwa Divisional Police Officer, Chief Superintendent Nurudeen Sabo, confirmed the arrest, saying that Jerome Eza was apprehended while trying to steal a car where it was parked at a bank in Kubwa.
He said the stolen Honda Civic has been recovered and that the case has been transferred to the FCT Criminal Investigation Department.
