Catholic diocese of Makurdi gets new bishop

Anagbe, the first to be ordained a Claritan bishop in Nigeria and the 21st among living Claritan bishops of Catholic faith worldwide, is expected to take over from Bishop Anthanasius Usuh.
In a message delivered at the episcopal ordination ceremony in Makurdi, Archbishop Augustine Kasujja, who is the Apostolic Nuncio to Nigeria, said the ailing Usuh deserves more than an applause for laying a solid foundation of the church in the land.
Kasujja noted that Usuh worked for the creation of two other dioceses in the state, and enjoined the congregation to pray for the newly ordained bishop.
Also speaking, Governor Gabriel Suswam, pledged the continued support of Benue people to the church, adding that the Catholic faith has in no small means contributed to the development of the state in the areas of education, health, character modulation among others.
